117: | | Title: | | | | Volume/Number: | 1992 June | | | Issuing Agency: | | | | Description: | In the mid 1980's the City of Charleston began receiving complaints about increased fishkills within the reservoir as well as many complaints of foul taste and odors in the potable (drinkable) water supply. Hoping to eliminate these problems, the City initiated a Federal Clean Lakes Program Phase 1 diagnostic/feasibility study of the CSCR. | | | Date Created: | 02 10 2010 | | | Agency ID: | | | | ISL ID: | 000000041025 Original UID: 21089 FIRST WORD: Charleston
118: | | Title: | | | | Volume/Number: | 2009 January | | | Issuing Agency: | | | | Description: | The major objectives of the Phase 1 study were to 1) evaluate the current condition of these water bodies, 2) investigate potential alternatives for restoring the water quality and enhancing the recreational and aesthetic qualities, and 3) to develop a comprehensive management plan. Alternatives in the management plan could then be considered under the Illinois Clean Lakes Program, as a Phase 2 implementation project, or as a project under the Non-Point Source Pollution Control Program (Section 319). | | | Date Created: | 01 08 2009 | | | Agency ID: | | | | ISL ID: | 000000041026 Original UID: 21087 FIRST WORD: Illinois
119: | | Title: | | | | Volume/Number: | 2007 July 10 | | | Issuing Agency: | | | | Description: | The Charleston Side-Channel Reservoir (CSCR) was the subject of a USEPA Clean Lakes Program (314) diagnostic/feasibility report in 1992. This document developed hydrologic, nutrient and sediment budgets for the CSCR. The CSCR has two watersheds: one that flows directly into the reservoir (the immediate watershed) and one whose water is selectively pumped into the reservoir. The immediate watershed was the number one source of sediment loading, third highest for nitrate loading and fourth for phosphorus loading of the reservoir. The largest source of loading for phosphorus was internal phosphorus cycling. Second largest source was from shoreline erosion. In 1996 a large aeration system was installed in order to curtail internal phosphorus loading. In 1994 the first in a series of erosion control projects was started in an effort to reduce erosion related loading. | | | Date Created: | 11 06 2007 | | | Agency ID: | Financial Assistance Agreement Number 3190321 | | | ISL ID: | 000000041028 Original UID: 21091 FIRST WORD: Charleston
120: | | Title: | | | | Volume/Number: | 2004 March | | | Issuing Agency: | | | | Description: | The major objectives of this study were to establish the current quality of the lake and to determine the source(s) of any water-borne pollutants to the lake. Based on the findings, potential corrective measures were proposed. The grant also provided support for the direct involvement and training of graduate and undergraduate students, increasing their knowledge and appreciation for the quality of the lake and the lake management profession in general. | | | Date Created: | 05 05 2004 | | | Agency ID: | | | | ISL ID: | 000000041030 Original UID: 21093 FIRST WORD: Illinois
