Contraband found in connection with otherwise routine traffic stops resulted in criminal charges in these two cases. In the Will County case, Michael Cosby was convicted by a jury for unlawful possession of cocaine in 2001 on the basis of crack cocaine found in personal property he had been carrying on his person. In the Kane County case, Hugo Mendoza was charged with unlawful use of a weapon on the basis of a handgun found in his car in 2004.
