The specific date of the event will depend on weather conditions. The site is located west of Decatur, approximately 1/4 mile south of the Sangamon River on the north side of West Rock Springs Road. The controlled burn is necessary to eliminate accumulated dead vegetation and to stimulate new growth and diversity in the plant life.
