The Department has received receiving numerous calls from consumers, mostly of Decatur, about the illegal activity and has referred the case to the Attorney Generals office. The revocation has been reported to the Regulatory Information Retrieval System (RIRS) database and other states are notified through that database. Consumers who have been doing business with Mr. Morrow or have a policy issued by Morrow Insurance should immediately seek assistance about their life, health, fire or casualty insurance coverage.

State Moves to Cap Long Term Care Insurance Premium Rates

DOI, with help from State Representative Robyn Gabel (18th District - Evanston), has proposed HB 2333 which calls for a 15% annual cap on a premium rate for a policyholders Long Term Care Insurance. Long term care (LTC) refers to the services and supports provided to people who need assistance with basic activities, such as bathing and dressing, because of chronic physical illness, or disabling conditions such as dementia. To offset the high costs associated with long term care, many people purchased insurance coverage. These policies were originally sold as having level premiums that would not increase based on age or health situation. Now, the policyholders who have been paying for a decade or more are shocked to receive notice that their monthly premium has skyrocketed as much as 200%.

Federal Government Announces Enrollment for the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (IPXP) ends March 2

 Description:  Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) Director Andrew Boron today announced the federally funded Illinois Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (IPXP) will no longer accept new enrollees after March 2 due to a decision by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. IPXP was set up as a transitional insurance program for uninsured Illinois residents with pre-existing conditions to have health coverage until the federal Affordable Care Act becomes effective on January 1, 2014. There are currently 3,360 Illinois residents enrolled under the plan who will continue to retain their coverage through the end of 2013. These IPXP enrollees, as well as the currently uninsured, will be able to purchase health insurance coverage from the Health Insurance Marketplace (formerly called Health Insurance Exchange) which will be ready for open enrollment on October 1, 2013.

The Companies ceased issuing new commitments for mortgage guaranty insurance in 2008, and have been operating their business under two Corrective Orders issued by DOI.
