VOCs are from a family of chemicals commonly found in solvents (degreasers) that have wide commercial and industrial use, such as metals fabrication, auto repair, dry cleaning and printing. The affected well is in a residential area northwest of Belvidere in Boone County and is not near any commercial or industrial development.
