Research Bulletin

 Volume/Number:  1986 2 April
 Issuing Agency:
Description:  Survival analysis is a methodology that has been developed and applied mainly in medical and engineering research. It analyzes rates over time in which terminal events or failures occur for a given population or group. Survival analysis has been used for instance, to assess the rates over time in which cancer symptoms appear for a group of patients and to compare the rates across subgroups of patients receiving different treatments. The technique also has been used to assess product life or to compare rates at which different instruments break down in field settings.

Research Bulletin

 Volume/Number:  1992 August
 Issuing Agency:
Description:  When someone is arrested for a crime in Illinois, the public expects that suspect to go through the judicial process without missing court or committing new offenses. Even if the person is related back to the community on bond, the ideal is no failures during the pretrial period. In this study of defendants awaiting trial in Cook County, the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority found this ideal is not always the case.
