 Description:  Some household products are potentially dangerous to living things and the environment when disposed of improperly. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) has designed a program to deal with such problem wastes. Utilizing funds from the Solid Waste Management Fund and the General Revenue Fund, the Agency sponsored 71 household hazardous waste collections during the state fiscal years 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. This report details the benefits of household hazardous waste collections in Illinois and summarizes the results of the projects.
