2: | | Title: | | | | Volume/Number: | | | | Issuing Agency: | | | | Description: | Three research questions are examined in this report. First, do individual- and household-level correlates of nonfatal victimization differ between males and females? Second, do these correlates differ between males and females across several types of nonfatal violence? And third, do individual- and household-level predictors of nonfatal victimization across victim and offender relationships differ for males and females? To address these questions, Illinois Crime Victimization Survey (ICVS) data were used. The purpose of the ICVS is to ascertain the nature and extent of statewide and regional crime victimization in Illinois. Analyses were conducted using the ICVS data provided by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA). These data were collected using the Illinois Crime Victimization Survey (ICVS) which measured the nature and extent of statewide and regional crime victimization in Illinois during 2002. Recoding and verification tasks were conducted using Statistical Software for the Social Sciences (SPSS), and correlation matrices and logistic regressions were performed using Stata. Analyses offered valuable information about differences in predictors of violence for males and females, including differences by crime type and by victim and offender relationship. | | | Date Created: | 2003 | | | Agency ID: | | | | ISL ID: | 000000003673 Original UID: 3513 FIRST WORD: Violent

6: | | Title: | | | | Volume/Number: | 2024 | | | Issuing Agency: | | | | Description: | The street-level violence prevention field includes a range of professionals fulfilling specific roles in various programs. This literature review focuses on violence interrupters as a specific type of outreach worker and the programs that utilize them. Violence interrupters embed themselves within specific areas of communities experiencing elevated levels of violence and mediate emerging conflicts between groups and/or individuals to interrupt the cycle of violence. This review describes the theoretical frameworks guiding the design of these programs, the role of violence interrupters, and program implementations. It also summarizes results from the research literature that evaluates these programs. | | | Date Created: | 06-12-2024 | | | Agency ID: | | | | ISL ID: | 000000107630 Original UID: 214149 FIRST WORD: Violence
7: | | Title: | | | | Volume/Number: | | | | Issuing Agency: | | | | Description: | This report has been prepared for Governor Ryan's Commission on Capital Punishment to provide additional information on homicide victim and survivor issues. It is hoped that this information is useful in the Commission's consideration of possible improvements in the way criminal justice agencies and allied entities in the victim service community carry out their responsibilities. The focus groups convened for this study were intended to give family members of homicide victims an opportunity to comment on what it feels like to go through the criminal or juvenile justice system process. | | | Date Created: | 02 19 2002 | | | Agency ID: | | | | ISL ID: | 000000003728 Original UID: 3572 FIRST WORD: Victim

11: | | Title: | | | | Volume/Number: | 2023 June 10 | | | Issuing Agency: | | | | Description: | In the United States, firearm homicide is a major public health concern. Certain populations are at greater risk for being a victim of firearm homicide, such as those with prior criminal justice involvement. The overlap between violent victimization and offense history, referred to as the victim-offender overlap, is empirically supported, but research is limited on the overlap of firearm homicide victimization and justice involvement. Therefore, we examined the extent of victim-offender overlap of firearm homicide decedents by matching Illinois public health data with state arrest data. | | | Date Created: | 06-10-2023 | | | Agency ID: | | | | ISL ID: | 000000107726 Original UID: 214228 FIRST WORD: Victim
