Description
In March 2001, the Energy Cabinet issued a white paper, Preparing an Energy Policy for the State of Illinois, which described the complex and inter-related nature of energy issues for Illinois state government. The paper served as a basis for an energy workshop held in April at Argonne National Laboratory. Based on input from that workshop and other public forums held throughout 2001 see appendix , an earlier draft of this energy policy document was posted for comment. Comments were received from a wide range of interested parties and many of those comments are reflected in this document. This document moves beyond the original white paper to make specific recommendations.

Executive Order Number (2001) created the Illinois Ener gy Cabinet consisting of the Directors of the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Nuclear Safety, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Agriculture and the Chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission
