- More youth prevention programs, drug treatment, and offender monitoring potentially will reduce drug use and violence in Illinois, according to a 2005 statewide needs assessment survey sent 1,561 law enforcement professionals. This Research Bulletin examines the responses received to the survey, which replicated a similar one conducted by the Authority in 1996. Eight different professional groups were surveyed, including police chiefs, court clerks, public defenders, states attorneys, judges, probation officers, juvenile detention center administrators, and victim service providers.
