.The Illinois State Library received $500,000 federal grant to develop and implement an international library leadership program in partnership with the University of Illinois' Mortenson Center for International Library Programs. The program will bring together Illinois librarians who have participated in the State Library's Synergy: The Illinois Library Leadership Initiative and group of librarians from among the countries with which the Mortenson Center works. For two years the Illinois librarians will share knowledge and information targeted at developing library leaders in other countries. In the second phase of the program, the State Library will work with the Mortenson Center to extend its training program to group of midcareer librarians from Mexico. The two parties also will exchange cultural information to help assist Illinois librarians in serving the growing MexicanAmerican population in Illinois.
