- Following an explosion and fire Sunday at its chemical plant in Seward, Illinois EPA Director Lisa Bonnett today asked the Illinois Attorney Generals Office to seek an immediate injunctive court order to require Nova-Kem LLC to thoroughly investigate and cleanup all environmental violations associated with the incident. Todays action follows an evacuation of nearby residents by emergency responders including local fire departments, law enforcement, hazmat and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. IEPA staff is on-site to evaluate conditions and assess the environmental impacts created by the incident.
